But did you know there is even a guide that can help you study for your Contractor's Exam?

The Contractor Exam Book will help you study and learn the important points of the contractor exam so you can be sure and pass with flying colors. Guides for the Public Works Contractor

Doing construction for public works can be lucrative if you understand how to bid competitively and deliver the job to standard the first time. Fortunately, there's a guide published that can help you do just that.

The 2007 BNI Public Works Costbook CRC is the only book published of its kind that is geared towards public works construction. It has a compendium of labor and material prices for most public works and infrastructure projects. This includes roads and streets, utilities, street lighting, manholes, and much more. Includes man hour data and a 200-city geographic modifier chart so you can add or subtract costs from your bid as needed to maintain accuracy in your proposals.

The Costbook pages and Man-Hour tables are organized according to the CSI Masterformat - the industry standard numbering/classification system. The data is divided into the 16 divisions and the five digit numbers within each division correspond to a Masterformat designation, making it easy for you to make your calculations based on the way architectural and engineering specifications are created.

There are sections that handle construction estimates, materials, labor and man hour calculations, equipment costs and how to figure your overhead and profit into your bids without losing your competitive edge.A public works job isn't like a standard construction job and if there's an error in the bidding and you bid too low, generally you have to absorb that loss. If you need to figure adjustments to costs for a particular area of the country, there is even a standard formula included to make sure your bids are dead on accurate every time.

If public works is the arena you do your construction work in, make sure you're bidding as competitively as possible and still turning a good profit by utilizing this one of a kind guide book.
